About Us

Our journey began in 1978 in Faridabad, when a group of friends felt inspired to give back to society. Encouraged by social worker Shri Bhawaban Chandra Raj, five founding members—R.K. Bardhan, A.K. Sen, A.C. Sahu, S.C. Das, and S.K. Chakrabarty—started planning this mission from their own homes. With legal guidance from Dr. S.C. Majhi, they formed a committee that officially became the Kalinga Sanskrutik Parishad (Reg No. 345) in 1980. We began by organizing annual festivals like Ganesh and Saraswati Puja, which brought the community together for cultural shows and shared meals. By 1983, our events grew so much that they were attended by important guests like Chief Minister Bhajan Lal. This success motivated us to seek land for a permanent cultural home. Although our members were mostly simple workers with modest salaries, we managed to raise the 25% land deposit required by the government, thanks to generous support from Mr. O.P. Bhalla. To better serve our goals, three local Odia groups merged to create the Shri Jagannath Cultural Centre (SJCC). In 1985, the Vice President of India, Shri R. Venkataraman, laid the center's foundation stone. A year later, during the 1986 Holi Purnima, we installed the sacred idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. This created a peaceful sanctuary that has welcomed thousands of devotees and leaders ever since. We are forever thankful to the early pioneers and donors, including those who represented us at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the Odisha Day Golden Jubilee. Today, we continue to honor the legacy of founders like Dr. S.S. Majhi and Shri N.K. Pradhan. We are grateful for every person who has helped us grow and invite you to join us in keeping our traditions alive through selfless service and devotion. May Lord Jagannath bless our community for many generations to come.
